Fly Fishing in Tropical Paradise

Lola IslandOver the last few months, we have been researching a number of new fly fishing destinations around the world.

What we were looking for is a place:

  • that is fishable in any weather
  • the ability to do a wide variety of styles of saltwater fly fishing - and as a bonus with tropical freshwater fly fishing too…
  • in a beautiful location and that is culturally interesting
  • able to get there from the east coast of Australia in one day
  • and at the right price!

We came up with this great little place...

A tropical island paradise in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands.

Mangrove JackIn February 2009. Gavin and Mark jumped on a plane and went there for a week to check things out. They liked what they found - you can fish for:

  • marlin & sailfish in depths of up to 1000m
  • then the shallow reefs for mahi mahi, dogtooth tuna, wahoo, Spanish mackerel, barracuda, yellowfin tuna
  • cruise the flats & estuaries for giant trevally, sleepy cod, bonefish, milkfish, coral trout
  • or try the freshwater for spot-tail bass, jungle perch, mangrove jack, archerfish...

THE CHOICE IS YOURS!

Take a look for yourself...

They made a DVD of their explorations - CLICK HERE to go to our YouTube Channel and take a look.

Beachside Cafe

Meals

Zipolo Habu dining is based on Fresh Seafood.

Whether you are having Seafood Spaghetti, Barbecued Crayfish, Cuttlefish, or Chilli Mud Crab...
be prepared if your meal is interrupted by the zing of the spinning reel running off with a Queenfish, Bluefin Trevally or Mangrove Jack.

It could be your next meal, if you are skilled enough to land your catch!
