Over the last few months, we have been researching a number of new fly fishing destinations around the world.
What we were looking for is a place: - that is fishable in any weather
- the ability to do a wide variety of styles of saltwater fly fishing - and as a bonus with tropical freshwater fly fishing too…
- in a beautiful location and that is culturally interesting
- able to get there from the east coast of Australia in one day
We came up with this great little place... A tropical island paradise in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands. In February 2009. Gavin and Mark jumped on a plane and went there for a week to check things out. They liked what they found - you can fish for:
- marlin & sailfish in depths of up to 1000m
- then the shallow reefs for mahi mahi, dogtooth tuna, wahoo, Spanish mackerel, barracuda, yellowfin tuna
- cruise the flats & estuaries for giant trevally, sleepy cod, bonefish, milkfish, coral trout
- or try the freshwater for spot-tail bass, jungle perch, mangrove jack, archerfish...
THE CHOICE IS YOURS! Take a look for yourself...
