With all the rain, wind and rough seas my mind keeps wondering off to the crystal clear waters of a tropical island...

As most of you know by now, Judy & I have just come back from an adventure to the Republic of Kiribati in the Pacific Ocean to a beautiful Atoll called Nonouti (pronounced Na-noos) - looking for the "Ghost of the Flats", the famous fly fishing target - BONEFISH.

There was no info on Bonefish on Fly from this region except for heaps of stories of very large schools of Bonefish all through the lagoon.

Thanks to technology we were able to do most of our research on the topography of the island and surrounding lagoon on Google Earth. So we headed off with a bundle of maps and tidal charts we found on the internet.

In the preparation for this adventure we were joined by a couple of close friends who were keen to make their footprint in the remote flats of this amazing place.

Nonouti – meaning “Get Up Early & Go Fishing” in I-Kiribati.
