You can be one of the first fly fisho’s to explore the fish rich waters of the Western Province of the Solomon Islands… Due to scheduling changes by Solomon Airlines the dates for our first two fly fishing trips have changed by a couple of days. This means that we now have one place available on the first trip and three on the second trip. More on this later... Have you ever wanted to go to a place where there were more fishing options than you could possibly do in just one week? Fish 1,000 metres of blue water in the morning… then freshwater jungle streams after lunch… Some of the many opportunities are: • Fish around one of the three FAD’s in 1,000-2,000 metres of water – where you can expect to encounter marlin, sailfish, dolphinfish, wahoo, yellowfin tuna and more… • Fish the reef passes which drop from sheer island cliffs to over 100 metres of water for giant trevally, coral trout, red bass, Spanish mackerel & dogtooth tuna • The lagoon areas – reef flats & sand flats – many trevally species, sweetlip, barracuda, milkfish & bonefish • Five major rivers with miles of mangrove estuaries that produce mangrove jack, cod & trevally in the saltwater • In the freshwater part of the rivers – spottail bass, jungle perch, archerfish & sleepy cod Have you ever been uncomfortable and frustrated by a fishing trip that was rough and blown out from day one? Due to the geography of the location that you will stay in and explore, it does not matter which direction the wind blows or the swell comes from, there is always a protected place to fish from the jungle freshwater to the open ocean. You will get more than just a fishing trip too… Not only will you be experiencing some amazing, remote, exploratory fly fishing – but you will also get to sample the colourful Solomon Islands culture – which dates back to headhunters and cannibals. Major battles from WWII between the Americans and the Japanese were fought around the myriad of islands and lagoons… When are we going? Friday 7th to Friday 14th August 2009 (one place available) Friday 14th to Friday 21st August 2009 (three places available) or both weeks… It’s your holiday - we will take care of everything for you... Your trip will be FULLY ESCORTED by an experienced Australian fly fishing guide who will oversee operations each day, leaving you to relax & enjoy yourself! Here’s what you get: * 6 days boat and local guide hire for 9 hours per day – two anglers per boat * 7 nights twin share accommodation in a two bedroom bungalow (accommodation upgrades are available - please ask us for details). * Full meal package - breakfast, lunch and dinner each day. * Return transfers from Munda airport to Zipolo Resort. All of this for just A$2,999 per person. What else do you need to know? Airfares from your home town to Brisbane (all Solomon Island flights depart Brisbane) to Honiara / Munda and return are not included in the package price. Our travel agent is very experienced with remote travel and can sort this out for you. Fuel costs for the fishing boats each day will be added to your bar tab and settled at the end of the week. Additional snacks and food items not included in the meal package, bottled water, soft drinks, beer, wine and spirits can be purchased from the Fishing Bar. It is fully licensed, but if you have a favourite drink, pick it up Duty Free and the bar staff will be happy to mix your drinks to your preference.
